institutions

The following text will be research about the many different film institutions throughout the UK and the USA. This will help to gain knowledge about the different types of institutions that I could relate to my opening of a film later on in the project.

One of the major media Institutions is The Walt Disney Company. Disney Headquartered in Walt Disney Studios, Burbank, California, United States is the medias biggest Conglomerate in 2010 its revenue was $38 Billion. Walt and Rory Disney founded it in on October 16th 1923. Disney being the medias biggest conglomerate also owns and operates the ABC TV network; cable TV networks including ESPN, Disney channel and A+E Networks, these are just a minor scale. It also owns 14 theme parks situated around the world and has a very successful music business signing people/ bands like Queen. Disney’s early years included the well-known creation of Mickey Mouse this being the ‘official mascot’ of the company.

Films that Disney’s is most famous for is obviously the Princess films (e.g. Little Mermaid and Cinderella) but what we do not relate Disney with is the horror etc. films that they have produced.  Disney is the owner of Miramax who have produced films such as Scream 2 and Bridget jones.
