Film Openings

Final Destination 5.

From the opening of this film I can infer that the content is tense, I know this because the music, its sharp, aggressive and loud. The beginning credits have enabled me to gain an understanding that not only is the film going to be a thriller but its going to contain violence and gory scenes too, I have been given this impression because of the objects being thrown towards the viewer, these objects are such things as knifes, bullets and other weapons that are able to cause harm.

The institutions that distribute the film, are Warner bros pictures and new line cinema.

Suddenly the fast upbeat music silences to a very abnormal scene that we do not relate to the previous music that was played. The actor seems very weary of his surroundings, making it obvious to the audience that there is something suspicious going on, witch is out of the normal, or that something is about to happen. The three relationships that we see in the beginning of the film were shown by using a two shot and an over the shoulder shots. Most of the shots are close ups of the characters, this helps to show who the main characters are and allows to viewer to

I am Number Four.

As we enter the amazing science fiction adventure world and discover the unusual and ab-normal creatures that lie within it, we come across heavy, quiet breathing allows us to know the level of tension that’s been created due to something lurking about behind closed doors, I found myself almost at the edge of my seat in terror and interest. All of a sudden a gust of spook and fear burst within me, the wall has been destroyed, the monster viciously bursts though the door, intruding the silence!

The film was greatly produced and presented by ‘DreamWorks’ and ‘Reliance Big Entertainment’

At the very beginning we sense an uneasy fear within ourselves, this is due to the strong and intimidating music that begins to get faster and faster as it continues, until coming to a halt were silence is then among us. Whilst the music is played we can see the earth from all different angles, this brings me to the thought of science-fiction, I think this is because the world was actually discovered by famous science astronomers. The movie is in fact a sci-fi film. I’m given the impression that I’m flying, in and out of countries, I feel free and relaxed, until the music begins to play.

The camera angles imply that the producers are wanting the viewer to see all the actions as the camera travels wherever the man goes, I know this because long shots are also used.

The Butter Fly Effect

The institutions that produced this film are New Line Cinema in association with Film Engine.
The opening of this film starts with a black background with a quote in white font; the quote is left for a while in order for us to be able to read it. We then carry on to see a tracking shot of someone sneaking around in the dark either trying to hide from someone or find something. The music played is very quite but extremely creepy and as the figure stops behind the blurred out door, the music goes very quite so that you can barely hear it, you can see him waiting for something. All of a sudden he pushes open the door and the music gets really loud and it starts build up, this helps to build tension. The camera follows the man by using the tracking shot again and we can see that he is looking for something, but we are still no more clued on what is happening. We then see an above the shoulder shot of the mad and he looks very weary of what’s going on. The audience are at this point would be intruded to know what’s happening as we have not yet seen anything that has related to the begging quote that was shown, in some ways it is completely in contrast. We then see the flashlight coming through the blinds and here we can see this is the person that he is trying to hide from. We then see his face to see that his is talking to himself making him look mad and then the screen goes black. The darkens turns to become blue butterflies that turns to a scull and this puzzles the audience.
From the conventions used we can see that it is going to be a thriller, by the colors used and the music. We can also see from the use of flashlights through the blinds as this shows the police or some sort of authority.
